POSITION OVERVIEW:

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Fellow position at the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute, Sinai Health System. The successful candidate will join the research group led by Dr. Isabella Caniggia in the Women’s and Infants’ Health group at the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute, Mount Sinai Hospital (http://www.lunenfeld.ca/about-us/expertise) within the Sinai Health System.

The overall objective of the research group led by Dr. Caniggia is to understand the cellular and molecular mechanisms that regulate normal and abnormal placental development with the goal of understanding the etiology of pregnancy-associated disorders as preeclampsia, IUGR and GDM. The long-term objective is to use the information to develop new diagnostic tests and potential therapeutic strategies.

One postdoctoral fellowship is immediately available to join the group to work on mechanisms regulating placental cell fate during normal pregnancy and in disease status as preeclampsia, IUGR and GDM.  The position will initially be for one year with the possibility of renewal up to three years in total. Fellowship stipend level will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

This fellowship is suitable for candidates who have a MD/PhD or Ph.D. in Health Sciences, Physiology, Cell Biology or relevant fields.  Working knowledge of biochemistry, molecular and cellular  biology  and analytical chemistry  are required. Evidence of prior research productivity and experience in genetic mouse models is an asset.
