Sinai Health System is one of Canada’s pre-eminent patient care, research and academic health science centres and is one of Greater Toronto’s Top Employers with a well-earned reputation for excellence.   Within the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute, the Collaboratory for Research and Innovation has a focus on health services research and is addressing questions and issues related to the intersection of multimorbidity, social determinants and health system factors.  The Collaboratory is located on the Bridgepoint Active Healthcare campus.

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

The Research Collaboratory is looking for an enthusiastic, energetic individual to serve as a Research Coordinator on our team. The successful candidate will coordinate a 3-year clinical trial around virtual care for veterans living with post-traumatic stress disorder, as well as collaborate on multiple projects within the program of research. The Research Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and the Project Manager, and alongside other team members within the Collaboratory. They will work independently and effectively to produce high quality research, documentation, communication, and overall coordination of the tasks assigned.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare, maintain, and update REB submissions.
  • Develop and update study protocols and data collection forms.
  • Liaise with off-site collaborators.
  • Assemble and coordinate project advisory board.
  • Maintain proper clinical trial documentation following GCP guidelines and REB requirements.
  • Act as primary research contact for study participants and site leads for day-to-day management of the project.
  • Conduct and coordinate virtual meetings with team members and site leaders, as well as virtual appointments with trial participants.
  • Screen and recruit participants; obtain consent and necessary paperwork, schedule appointments and coordinate overall participation in the trial.
  • Administer measurement tools.
  • Assist with data entry and cleaning in data management software REDCap.
  • Provide support to on-site clinical administrators for the trial.
  • Prepare and help write manuscripts for publication.
  • Present research results at local, national and international scientific meetings.
  • Present seminars and in-services internally and provides functional supervision of assigned personnel.
  • Participate in regular team meetings.
  • Maintain regular communication with team members and Principal Investigator.
  • Work with other team members to complete additional tasks as needed.

QUALIFICATION AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s degree in Health Services or related discipline required.
  • 5 years of experience conducting research in clinical trials
  • Experience in mental health care and/or research is an asset.
  • Training in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR).
  • Demonstrated experience in participant recruitment and data collection.
  • Experience writing and preparing manuscripts for publication.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated teamwork, problem-solving, critical thinking and leadership skills.
  • Ability to set priorities and work independently in a dynamic team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Proficiency with virtual communications (e.g. Zoom) and ability to work remotely for the duration of the contract.
  • Previous experience with data management software (REDCap, NVivo, SPSS) is an asset.
  • Previous experience with statistical analysis is an asset.
