ORGANIZATION OR DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

The Department of Psychiatry at Mount Sinai Hospital welcomes applications for a Data Research Assistant to work in Dr. Daisy Singla’s busy and dynamic lab, which is part of the Perinatal Mental Health Program. The Data Research Assistant would play an integral role in the investigation of evidenced-based treatments for postpartum depression and other comorbidities. In this role, the successful candidate will be involved in basic statistical analysis and data management activities of quantitative clinical trial data for the large, multi-site trial referred to as the Scaling Up Maternal Mental healthcare by Increasing access to Treatment (SUMMIT) study, funded by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI).

Responsibilities of the Data Research Assistant include but are not limited to:

  • Perform basic statistical data analysis (e.g., descriptives, t-tests, regression and predictive models) using statistical software packages (SAS and/or R)
  • Provide analytical expertise to support research teams' data, information, knowledge and support goals
  • Assist in the preparation of related data for peer-reviewed manuscripts and conference presentations
  • Creation and maintenance of research statistical databases
  • Ensure quality control of clinical trial data including data quality and integrity checks in statistical database
  • Aid in data management of related study activities; work closely with other team members
  • Monitor and maintain deadlines and schedules
  • Prepare written correspondences, reports and presentations using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
  • Perform other general office-related duties as required (e.g., organizing and maintaining electronic shared drive and participant folders)

REQUIREMENTS

  • Successful completion of a University degree in a relevant field, preferably a Masters in Epidemiology or Statistics
  • Experience in SAS and/or R and familiarity with REDCapTM database
  • Strong experience in analysis and interpretation of research datasets
  • Experience in data management tasks for clinical trials
  • Superior organizational and time management skills with a flexibility to adjust to priorities
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to work accurately and effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • A minimum of two years of recent and related experience in, or familiarity with, a research environment in a health setting
  • Self-directed with an ability to make decisions and to exercise good judgement
  • Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history
  • Strong organizational skills
