REPORTS TO  Clinical Trial Lead/PI - Gastroenterology

The Research Assistant will work under the supervision of the Clinical Investigators on research projects and will work independently and effectively to facilitate the output of high-quality research, documents, communication and overall coordination.


  • Maintain study documents and other research files
  • Perform necessary quality control procedures to ensure accuracy and completeness of the research data
  • Assist Clinical Investigator with preparing reports of study progress
  • Help with the preparation and submission of ethics approval applications and amendments as required
  • Assist with literature searches, data abstraction, translation of articles, and bias assessment
  • Contribute to the efficient day-to-day operations of the unit
  • Regulatory submissions for clinical trials and response to those submissions, including submissions to research ethics boards
  • Set-up for clinical trial monitoring and address outstanding issues after monitoring visits; prepare for clinical trial close-out monitoring visits
  • Maintain site regulatory documents for the Trial Centre File Binders  and Trial Master File
  • Tracking of regulatory documents for our clinical trials
  • May assist with recruitment of study subjects


  • 4- year Bachelor’s degree in health related field and 1+ year of experience
  •  Minimum of 1 year experience and demonstrated success in an academic or clinical research setting.


  • Well-developed time management skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Basic familiarity with conducting research studies
  • Some understanding of research design and research ethics
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of computer software applications, including Microsoft Office programs
  • High level interpersonal, verbal and written communication
