The Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute is one of Canada’s leading biomedical research institutes offering a stimulating research environment.  The Research Assistant will work under the supervision of the Lead investigators and the Research Coordinators of the Ontario Birth Study/Ontario Birth Study Kids.  The Research Assistant will primarily perform several tasks related to the follow-up of mothers participating in a pregnancy study and to the assessment of the cognitive and behavioural development of their children. In addition, some tasks with the pregnancy study may be performed.  The tasks will include conducting telephone follow-up, data entry, filing and other support functions. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow-up of study participants by email and telephone and mailing of relevant material
  • Conducting telephone interviews
  • Entering study data into databases and conducting quality and error checks
  • Perform clerical duties, such as filing
  • Other tasks as necessary

 

Education and Experiences:

  • Have completed at least 2 years of Undergraduate program in health and/or social sciences or a health-related discipline.  Skills and experience in working with people, particularly mothers and children is an asset.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Skills and experience in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel and Access
  • Fluency in English is required (fluency in other languages is an asset)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Excellent telephone manners
  • Aptitude for attention to detail
  • Ability to work with a multidisciplinary research team
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends for some of the work hours

 

In accordance with Institute’s policy and legislated health and safety requirements, employment is conditional upon the verification of credentials, completion of a health review, and demonstrating proof of immunity and vaccination status of vaccine-preventable diseases. All employees and affiliates will follow safe work practices and comply with health and safety policies, procedures, and training. Successful candidates will be required to provide two (2) written reference letters from their former employer(s)/supervisor(s).

A recent Provincial Directive mandates all employees of public hospitals in Ontario to be either fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or be regularly tested. All new employees joining Sinai Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and be on track toward full vaccination within six (6) weeks; participating in mandatory twice weekly Rapid Antigen Testing Program until fully vaccinated. There are very limited circumstances in which approval will be given for a medical exemption from receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.
