Job Summary:

The Leadership Sinai Centre for Diabetes invites applications for the position of Biostatistician. This position is full-time for 1 year, with possibility of continuation thereafter. Candidates ideally have an MSc, MMath or PhD degree in Biostatistics or Statistics with demonstrated practical experience in a health research setting. The biostatistician will work in a dynamic and stimulating environment on a variety of clinical research projects with an established research team that includes physicians and epidemiologists. Ongoing projects include large prospective observational cohort studies and clinical trials relating to diabetes. The biostatistician will participate in data analysis and preparation of results for publication and conference presentations. Solid R/SAS programming, oral and written communication, and time management skills are essential. Salary commensurate with relevant experience.  

 

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Perform statistical analyses for research projects at the Leadership Sinai Centre for Diabetes, including clinical trials and observational cohort studies
  • Merge and clean data from sources contributing to studies, including study databases and biochemical data
  • Create code for conducting statistical analyses and revise analyses in iterative manner in conjunction with investigators
  • Prepare descriptions of statistical methods for manuscripts and grant applications
  • Prepare tables and figures to present results of statistical analyses
  • Data management and database interrogation
  • Store all analyses with clear documentation
  • Handle all data and analyses with the highest degree of confidentiality

 

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • MSc, MMath or PhD degree in Biostatistics or Statistics
  • Programming proficiency in R or Statistical Analysis Software (SAS)
  • Familiarity with longitudinal data analysis and repeated-measures analyses, including Generalized Estimating Equations (GEE) and mixed models
  • Familiarity with multivariable regression techniques
  • Minimum of 6 months experience in health research setting is preferred
