Position Overview:

The Mothering Transitions Research Program at the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute of Sinai Health System, is looking for a casual HeLTI Canada Research Assistant I (Intervention) to conduct research-related tasks as needed in a longitudinal, CIHR-funded randomized controlled trial.

The successful candidate will have a background in health care. They will be trained in the delivery of a brief, evidence-based talk therapy and recommend internet-based e-health resources to enrolled families.  They will be expected to keep meticulous records in the study database of the intervention sessions and activities they provide.  The successful candidate will also be interviewed at several points throughout the project about their experiences and these interviews will be included in the study data and analyzed as a part of the study.  This is a multi-disciplinary role.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

Clerical/Support (30% of work time)

  • limited processing of data
  • present research related information, including written study reports when necessary
  • Insert collected data in an electronic based survey database

 

Research Activities (70% of work time)

  • Attend training and supervision sessions
  • Schedule and deliver telephone-based intervention sessions
  • Collect data via telephone calls
  • If applicable, assessment of potential serious adverse events and notification of study sponsor and appropriate authorities

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor of Science (preferably with 5 years related research experience), preferably Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Meticulous and capable of independent decision making with study data
  • Basic computer skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical and scientific terminology
  • Progressively responsible experience in a clerical position
  • Excellent communication (verbal/written) and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent attention to detail and proven ability to learn new skills
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks in a timely manner and flexibility to adapt to changing workload
  • Able to keep written records
  • Able to understand written and verbal directions

 

In accordance with Institute’s policy and legislated health and safety requirements, employment is conditional upon the verification of credentials, completion of a health review, and demonstrating proof of immunity and vaccination status of vaccine-preventable diseases. All employees and affiliates will follow safe work practices and comply with health and safety policies, procedures, and training. Successful candidates will be required to provide two (2) written reference letters from their former employer(s)/supervisor(s).

A recent Provincial Directive mandates all employees of public hospitals in Ontario to be either fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or be regularly tested. All new employees joining Sinai Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and be on track toward full vaccination within six (6) weeks; participating in mandatory twice weekly Rapid Antigen Testing Program until fully vaccinated. There are very limited circumstances in which approval will be given for a medical exemption from receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.
