The Lunenfeld Tenenbaum Research Institute, part of Sinai Health, welcomes applications for Research Behavioral Intervention Counsellors to work within in a large-scale research study that endeavors to implement and evaluate the delivery of a brief, evidence-based, psychological intervention for perinatal depression and anxiety. This project is funded by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI).

Reporting to both the Principal Investigator of the PCORI study at Lunenfeld Tanenbaum Research Institute as well as the Clinical Director within the Department of Psychiatry, the successful candidates will have a background in health care but will not have previous training within delivery of mental health care.  Incumbents will be trained in the delivery of a brief, evidence-based, psychological intervention and deliver the intervention to women with perinatal depressive and anxiety symptoms.  Selected incumbents must be available to attend a four (4) day remote training session in April (dates below). 

The Research Behavioral Intervention Counsellors will be expected to keep meticulous records in the study database of the sessions they provide.  The successful candidate will also be interviewed at several points throughout the project about their experiences and suggestions, and their interviews will be included in the study data and analyzed as a part of the study participants. 

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Attend remote training (paid) on all following dates:
  • April 17th  1-3pm
  • April 20th 1-3pm
  • April 24th 1-3pm
    • April 27th 10-12 pm
  • Schedule and deliver a brief, 8-session behavioral intervention sessions with assigned study participants (all sessions will be delivered by telemedicine and delivered to individual participants)
  • Data collection and entry related to all completed intervention sessions
  • Participate in up to three (3) to four (4) individual or group qualitative interviews over the course of the study
  • Provide availability to meet with study participants as well as attend one-hour weekly supervision meetings for the study duration.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Registration and current membership in good standing with a relevant regulatory college
  • Successful completion of a University degree preferably in science, nursing, occupational therapy, or related clinical discipline from an accredited educational institution
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience preferably working with perinatal populations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical and scientific terminology preferred
  • Established organizational, communication, time management and interpersonal skills, along with ability to work effectively as a team member in a dynamic, inter-professional environment.
  • Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance
  • Located in the Greater Toronto Area in order to see study participants
  • No formal training or practice in psychological treatments
     

In accordance with Institute’s policy and legislated health and safety requirements, employment is conditional upon the verification of credentials, completion of a health review, and demonstrating proof of immunity and vaccination status of vaccine-preventable diseases. All employees and affiliates will follow safe work practices and comply with health and safety policies, procedures, and training. Successful candidates will be required to provide two (2) written reference letters from their former employer(s)/supervisor(s).

A recent Provincial Directive mandates all employees of public hospitals in Ontario to be either fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or be regularly tested. All new employees joining Sinai Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and be on track toward full vaccination within six (6) weeks; participating in mandatory twice weekly Rapid Antigen Testing Program until fully vaccinated. There are very limited circumstances in which approval will be given for a medical exemption from receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.
