Department Description

Research in the Drucker lab is focused on understanding the biology of the glucagon-like peptides. Specific projects include physiological analyses of GLP-1 and GLP-2 action, understanding the biology of glucagon action, and elucidation of the functional control of GLP-1, GIP, and GLP-2 action through studies of their respective receptors.

Lab staff utilize a combination of techniques that involve cell culture, studies of signal transduction, cell proliferation and apoptosis, with a major emphasis on generation and phenotypic analysis of mice with disruption of gut hormone action. The lab employs mouse models to delineate novel concepts of gut hormone action with potential therapeutic relevance.

 

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Technician I to join the Drucker Lab. The Technician I will be working with mice, including genetically modified mouse models to support the laboratories research. The Technician I will be responsible for breeding, weaning and genotyping. The ideal candidate will have experience in mouse metabolic phenotyping of diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disease. As well as, experience in colony management, metabolic phenotyping, and related laboratory techniques.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Able to perform routine standardized techniques, procedures and experiments
  • Support postdoctoral fellows with complex mouse phenotyping experiments
  • Prepare stock reagents and maintain laboratory inventory
  • Document all experiments, samples, and equipment operations accurately
  • Assist lab members with the preparation of protocols involving animals, chemicals, and reagents
  • Provide general lab management assistance and support

 

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field
  • Experience: Minimum 6 months to 1 year of related experience
  • Must have a practical understanding of molecular biology and animal physiology
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
