Job Summary

Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute is seeking a skilled and dedicated Clinical Data Specialist (REDCap) to support the PRECISE study. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in database management, programming, and clinical research with advanced knowledge of REDCap. This position will play a crucial role in ensuring data integrity, optimizing data collection processes, generating custom reports, charts and supporting research teams in achieving high-quality data outputs.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Electronic CRF Development: Create electronic case report forms (CRFs) on REDCap and assist research teams in optimizing their forms to maintain the highest data quality.
  • Database Management: Develop, implement, and maintain REDCap databases to support research and clinical data management needs. Proficient in designing and managing databases that enable comprehensive search capabilities by different categories
  • Training and Support: Onboard and train research staff to follow best practices in data entry, management, and extraction.
  • Instrument Development: Coordinate the development of (and/or develop and program) data collection instruments, surveys, and reporting tools within REDCap.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, reliability, and user experience.
  • Data Quality Assurance: Perform frequent audits, monitor data for missing and/or erroneous entries, and ensure the highest level of database integrity.
  • Data Cleaning and Manipulation: Execute advanced data cleaning and manipulation tasks to support research goals.
  • Data Analytics and Visualization: Provide principal investigators (PIs) and research teams with custom reports and data visualizations for publication articles.
  • Database Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for databases, including data dictionaries, user guides, and SOPs, to ensure consistency, reproducibility, and ease of use for research teams.
  • Data Security and Privacy: Ensure databases comply with security and privacy standards (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR) and promote adherence to best practices through training.

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Science, Life Sciences, Health Informatics, or a related field with Masters/advance courses/certifications in Clinical Data Management. Must have prior experience working on large healthcare datasets and a background in medical, healthcare, or life sciences. Candidates with Masters degree focused on Healthcare Research with extensive hands-on experience on REDCap, Access, SQL, R will be preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in REDCap and 5 years in database management
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong understanding of database design and management principles.
    • Proficiency in data security and compliance within a healthcare setting.
    • Experience with programming languages, automated export procedures and integrating REDCap with tools like SQL, Python or R.
  • Clinical Research Knowledge: Familiarity with clinical research methodologies and regulatory requirements is a plus. Experience with longitudinal and cross-sectional study designs is highly valued.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse healthcare professionals.
  • Data Analytics: Prior experience in data analytics (eg.  SPSS, STATA) particularly in multi-center studies, data visualization (eg. PowerBi, R), and generating actionable insights for research publications.
