Position Overview:
The Department of Psychiatry at Mount Sinai Hospital welcomes applications for a Research Coordinator I (Qualitative) to work on a health professions education project that utilizes an adaptive expertise theoretical framework to explore the possible role of a Knowledge Building Community (HIV Psychiatry ECHO) towards improved integration of mental health care in the HIV sector in Ontario. This project will lay the groundwork for a proposal for centralized mental health resources in the HIV sector. Education, an essential part of capacity building, is often an afterthought in health care design. This proposal mobilizes findings from past research, which illuminated barriers and facilitators of collaborative care at a micro and meso level, to help elucidate how to support sustainable models of collaborative practice and integrated care at a macro and local health system level. In this role the successful candidate will not only coordinate the day to day elements of the research study (surveys and regional focus groups, involving front line community and peer workers), but will also work on the development, collection, coordination, processing and quality control of all qualitative and quantitative data. This is an academic hospital role, working primarily with community providers. Experience working with community organizations, with community and peer providers, is not necessary but encouraged. The Project Coordinator reports to the Principal Investigator and to the Departmental Director.
Responsibilities of the Research Coordinator I (Qualitative) include but are not limited to:
- Completion (i.e. submission of protocol, consent forms and other required study documentation), maintenance, amendments of REB via online platform
- Recruitment and scheduling of research participants
- Administration of research surveys
- Organize and conduct qualitative focus groups
- Data collection and management
- Code data using qualitative software
- Monitor and maintain study deadlines and schedules
- Prepare written correspondence, reports and presentations using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
- Perform other general office related duties as required (e.g., photocopying, organizing and maintaining filing system)
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in health sciences or related field
- A minimum of 1-2 years of related experience in or familiarity with a research environment in the health professions education or medical field
- Prior experience conducting focus groups and/or interviews and working with qualitative data
- Demonstrated knowledge of qualitative data analysis software an asset (e.g. NVivo)
- Technical skills and proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Demonstrated verbal and written skills
- Self-directed with an ability to make decisions and to exercise good judgement
- Superior organizational and time management skills with a flexibility to adjust to priorities
- Demonstrated professionalism and ability to work with a variety of individuals in a co-operative manner both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work accurately and effectively in a fast paced environment
- Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history
