Department Overview:

The Office of Technology Transfer and Industrial Liaison’s mission is to develop effective interactions with the corporate sector and other research and health care institutions which enhance the research, clinical and educational programs of the Hospital, which promote the application of new information and technology to the promotion of wellness, the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease and which generate funds to support the goals of the Hospital.

Our Services:

  • Intellectual Property: The Office is responsible for identifying, evaluating and protecting intellectual property arising from laboratory based and clinical research programs. This involves filing patent applications where appropriate and taking action to protect confidential information.
  • Commercialization: To transfer technologies to the marketplace. This process involves either licensing technologies for use by other organizations, or the creation of spin-off companies.
  • Contract Negotiation: Responsible for ensuring that the rights of Sinai Health System staff are protected in legal contracts relating to licenses, material transfers, confidentiality, intellectual property, sponsored research and research collaborations.

 

Position Overview

The successful applicant will work on a research project within the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute that will assess the uptake, use, and usefulness of Generative AI platforms in the performance of research administrative activities. The intent is that the findings will be published in a peer-reviewed journal (e.g. The Journal of Research Administration).

This position will be a hybrid rolel (1-2 days). 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Co-writing the literature review section of the journal article, in collaboration with the Project Coordinator, drawing on a variety of resources (academic, media, etc.)
  • Co-writing the methods section of the journal article, in collaboration with the Project Coordinator
  • Logging how you use Generative AI support in the performance of your work (as that may become part of the article)
  • Contributing to the design of a survey tool
  • Setting up the survey in either Sharepoint or Redcap, tbd
  • Survey analysis
  • Presenting findings – both to small working groups and in writing up analysis for the publication
  • Writing text for the analysis/findings sections of the RJA article
  • Editing and proofreading
  • Drafting other dissemination content (e.g., infographics, blog posts)

 

Requirements:

  • Active enrollment in a post-secondary degree/diploma. Second to third year students are preferred. 
  • Have an academic interest in Generative AI – in particular, in how it is applied in white collar labour settings; ideally the literature search is something you won’t need to research exhaustively, as it relates to prior/current academic output (e.g. term papers, a research proposal, etc.)
  • Have good attention to detail
  • Good communication skills
  • Can keep track of assigned tasks and follow them through to completion; capable of working to deadline
  • Works independently
  • Well-organized
