Position Overview
The Division of Hospital Medicine at Sinai Health invites applications for a Scientific Associate position. The successful candidate will join a vibrant and interdisciplinary environment to advance research and innovation in hospital-based and system-level care. The role focuses on supporting Divisional investigators in evaluating and implementing innovative solutions to healthcare challenges, including best practice implementation, transitions of care, patient experience, resource stewardship, and health equity across the healthcare spectrum (acute, complex continuing, rehabilitation, and ambulatory care). 
This position offers an exceptional opportunity for a PhD-trained researcher to contribute to applied, high-impact health system research and to engage collaboratively with clinicians, learners, and patients to improve care delivery at Sinai Health and beyond. 
Organizational Context
This position is based within the Division of Hospital Medicine in the Department of Family Medicine at Sinai Health. This is the largest academic hospital medicine division in Ontario, comprising over 50 physicians providing comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care.

Key Responsibilities
1. Research Leadership and Project Management 
·         Serving as Co-Investigator, support Divisional studies evaluating hospital medicine interventions and system innovations using methods from quality improvement, implementation science, and health services research. 
·         Support the designing, executing, and analyzing studies to advance research objectives. 
·         Collaborating with other investigators and research groups, both within and outside the Division, to facilitate interdisciplinary research. 
·         Data Analysis and Interpretation: Oversee or contribute to quantitative and qualitative data collection, analysis, and integration. 
2. Mentorship and Supervision 
·         Mentoring junior investigators, including postdoctoral researchers, PhD students, and research technicians, in their research projects and professional development. 
·         Mentorship and Team Science: Engage with learners and staff within the Division to build research capacity and promote team-based inquiry. 
3. Scientific Communication 
·         Writing and publishing research findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals. 
·         Presenting research at scientific conferences, seminars, and other academic or industry forums. 
·         Contributing to grant applications, grant reporting, and securing funding for research projects. 
·         Knowledge Translation: Contribute to manuscripts, reports, and presentations for scientific, clinical, and policy audiences. 
4.  Strategic Contribution 
·         Participating in strategic planning and decision-making processes within the Division. 
·         Program Development: Collaborate with clinicians, researchers, and administrators to co-design and implement evidence-based approaches to care improvement and health equity. 
·         Identifying new research opportunities and directions based on emerging scientific trends and technological advancements. 
Qualifications 
·         PhD in health services research, epidemiology, implementation science, quality improvement, or a related field. 
  
·         Demonstrated ability to conduct and publish high-quality applied health research. 
  
·         Strong understanding of healthcare delivery systems and/or hospital medicine. 
  
·         Experience with mixed methods, implementation frameworks, or evaluation of clinical programs is considered an asset. 
  
·         Excellent organizational, writing, and interpersonal communication skills. 
  
·         A collaborative and self-motivated researcher comfortable working with interdisciplinary teams.
