POSITION OVERVIEW:
Working as part of a team, the Contract Reviewer is responsible for the review, drafting and negotiation of a variety of forms of agreements covering academic and industry-sponsored research.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working under the supervision of the Managing Research Counsel, and in consultation with fellow Contract Reviewers, Research Counsel, researchers and other advisors, the Contract Reviewer will have the following responsibilities:
- the review, drafting and negotiation of agreements
- non-disclosure agreements, data and material sharing agreements, clinical laboratory studies, research services and related agreements
- industry-sponsored and investigator-initiated clinical studies
- provide general contract advice to other members of the Office of Technology Transfer & Industry Liaison
- input into process improvement initiatives
- additional tasks as assigned
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- College or university degree, plus 2–5 years of professional experience
- A well-organized, self-starter able to work independently as well as in a small team environment
- Effective communication and negotiation skills
- Able to review, draft and negotiate a variety of contracts in a timely manner
- Able to critically read, analyze and write a variety of legal and technical documents
- Working knowledge of Canadian and Ontario health law including privacy law, contract and intellectual property law particularly in the context of an academic biomedical research environment
- Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance record
- Keen to learn and become proficient with increasingly complex contracts
Salary range: $70,845 to $88,580
In accordance with Institute’s policy and legislated health and safety requirements, employment is conditional upon the verification of credentials, completion of a health review, and demonstrating proof of immunity and vaccination status of vaccine-preventable diseases. Successful candidates will be required to provide two (2) written reference letters from their former employer(s)/supervisor(s).
