Applications are invited for a postdoctoral fellow position at Sinai Health. The successful candidate will join the Weston and O’Born Centre for Mature Women’s Health under the supervision of Dr. Paula Rochon.

Position Summary:

This position will provide a researcher with the opportunity to join an established multi-disciplinary group of health services researchers. 

Research at the Weston and O’Born Centre for Mature Women’s Health is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of women as they age. Our research will look into the ways in which conditions present, develop and affect mature women. Applying these finding to clinical practice and addressing the health challenges that disproportionately or differently impact them will ultimately lead to better more equitable care for women as they age.

We are seeking an epidemiologist or health services researcher. This individual will play a key role in research designed to promote health and wellness in older women and men, with a particular emphasis on women.  Much of the research will focus on using health administrative data to identify opportunities to improve the health of older women and men.

Description of the role

The position will initially be for one year with the possibility of renewal. Fellowship stipend level will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. 

Candidates are expected to:

  • Lead the design, implementation and management of complex research studies, including research methodology and population-based data analysis;
  • Work collaboratively with team members to explore challenges in the areas of mature women and aging;
  • Participate in the preparation of research reports, articles for publication, protocols, letters of intent, grant proposals and presentations;
  • Disseminate research using traditional methods (publications, presentations) as well as exploring other more novel forums for communication;
  • Attend and contribute to regular team meetings.

Qualifications

  • PhD or MD completed
  • Expertise in epidemiology or health services research
  • Clinical training in geriatric medicine and/or expertise in geriatric pharmacology an asset
  • Research experience in academic environment
  • Expertise in designing studies and analyzing quantitative data
  • Experience with large administrative databases an asset
  • Record of publications in peer reviewed journals an asset
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills

Minimum annual salary: $60,000
