POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Department of Psychiatry at Mount Sinai hospital welcomes applications for a Research Assistant to work on the busy, dynamic, and growing Perinatal Mental Health Program. The Recruitment/Outreach Research Assistant plays an integral role in the investigation of evidenced-based treatments for post-partum depression and other comorbidities. In this role the successful candidate will be responsible for all study recruitment. The Research Assistant will be a part of the Sinai Health System (SHS) Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinical Research Unit as well as work on site of the study at partnered locations including SHS, St. Michael’s Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital, and Women’s College Hospital. This project is funded by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). The Research Assistant reports to the Trial Coordinator, Data Coordinator and Principal Investigator.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Aid in the recruitment and scheduling of research subjects
  • Administration and collection of research questionnaires
  • Troubleshoot and provide onsite technical assistance to any participant concerns with the online data collection system
  • Data collection/entry
  • Monitor and maintain deadlines and schedules
  • Perform literature searches
  • Assist in the preparation of research reports and peer-review process
  • Prepare written correspondence, reports and presentations using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
  • Perform other general office related duties as required (e.g., photocopying, organizing and maintaining filing system)

 

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful completion of a University degree in a relevant field
  • A minimum of one year of recent and related experience in or familiarity with a research environment in a mental health setting
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Demonstrated verbal and written skills
  • Self-directed with an ability to make decisions and to exercise good judgement
  • Superior organizational and time management skills with a flexibility to adjust to priorities
  • Demonstrated professionalism and ability to work with a variety of individuals in a co-operative manner both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work accurately and effectively in a fast paced environment
  • Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history
