POSITION OVERVIEW:

Led by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Healthy Life Trajectories Initiative (HeLTI) is designed to address the rising tide of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and to provide an increased understanding of how biological, social and environmental exposures affect human health and development. HeLTI is a unique research collaboration between Canada, China, India, South Africa and the World Health Organization (WHO) to implement intervention cohorts in the four participating countries to generate evidence that will inform national and global policy for the improvement of health and the prevention of NCDs.

A HeLTI office will be based at the Alliance for Human Development, Lunenfeld Tanenbaum Research Institute in Toronto to provide administrative support to the HeLTI network.  As the HeLTI coordinator, the incumbent will take the responsibility to manage the overall operations of the HeLTI office.

The HeLTI Coordinator will be responsible for the overall administrative support of the HeLTI network and of the HeLTI Research Committee in particular. The Coordinator will work with colleagues across the 4 HeLTI sites to provide support and facilitate the implementation of the projects. The Coordinator will maintain an overview of the state of the HeLTI projects and ensure accessibility of information amongst project sites and beyond.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The HeLTI Coordinator will perform the following principal duties:

  • Serve as the Secretariat for the HeLTI Research Committee: Convene the Committee, develop related materials to support the committee in its work, work with Rotating Committee Chairs to develop meeting agendas, prepare background documents and minutes;

  • Support the development and maintain the HeLTI Portal/Website and the HeLTI Intranet;

  • Facilitate HeLTI knowledge translation, knowledge sharing and communications across HeLTI teams;

  • Curate the HeLTI intranet and repository; gather and collate HeLTI relevant references and resources;

  • Support external communications and relations with the wider research community;

  • Manage requests for HeLTI data and analysis and liaise with HeLTI Data Centres; Assist in the development of tools related to the management of these requests;

  • Ensure the application of policies related to confidentially, ethics data sharing;

  • Assist in the planning and coordination of harmonized approaches to the monitoring of study progress.

  • Provide support to grant development, donor reports and programme evaluations as needed;

  • Assist in the organization and the coordination of HeLTI related events and activities;

  • Facilitate and support HeLTI Steering Committees and thematic Working Group meetings including preparing minutes on an as needed basis;

  • Support coordination of harmonization objectives and processes of the HeLTI teams 

  • Manage the HeLTI Office budget.

  • Other duties that may be identified as priorities by the HeLTI Research Committee.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master degree and 3 - 5 years related experience in public health, research management, program evaluation, or knowledge translation;

  • Experience working in a research environment,  and/or an academic hospital;

  • Experience in Project coordination and project implementation especially with large cohort studies;

  • Well-developed analytical skills;

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills;

  • Ability to liaise effectively with a variety of internal and external research stakeholders;

  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills with attention to detail
