Dedicated to excellence, you will provide technical assistance to students/researchers; furthermore you will be expected to work on one main project or several smaller projects as designated by the Investigator and assist in overseeing the day-to-day operation of the laboratory. The successful applicant will need knowledge of and experience with handling research animals. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong background in molecular and cell biology, biochemistry, and physiology.



  • Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the laboratory and/ or project
  • Independently leads a research project within the group and/or may have specialized expertise or knowledge in a particular field which is an essential component of a team project.
  • Responsible for the organization of the laboratory, including ordering/maintaining materials and supplies, budgeting, etc.
  • Work closely with students and post-doctoral fellows with priority experiments and/ or projects.
  • Exercises independent judgement, initiative and decision making consultation with investigator to resolve matters relating to interpretation of test results, troubleshooting and modification of techniques/procedures.
  • Organized and self-sufficient, but also able to work well in a team
  • Experience with mammalian primary cell culture including isolation, transfection and imaging.
  • Skilled in molecular biology techniques including western blotting, immunocytochemistry, cloning, DNA and RNA isolation, and PCR
  • Experience handling laboratory animals, maintaining mouse colony by breeding and genotyping is preferred
  • Responsible for organizing records of specimens deposited to a biorepository



  • M.Sc. in Molecular and/or Cellular Biology, Physiology or related discipline with 2 years of experience.
  • Applicants with proven equivalent and related training and experience may also be considered.
  • Must be able to exercise good judgement, exercise considerable independence and take initiative
  • Must possess excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation) and be comfortable engaging and exchanging information with other members of the lab
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving abilities with strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated knowledge of standard software (e.g. LIMS, Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Must demonstrate satisfactory work performance and attendance record
