The Research Assistant will work in the Toronto Scleroderma Program, the largest Scleroderma observational cohort in Canada. Under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator and her delegates, the incumbent will be working on data entry into a Filemaker database. In addition, the RA will be asked to complete quality control of completed subject data, file documents, conduct queries, generate reports and export data for analysis. The RA will be asked to provide assistance with the maintenance and modification of electronic and paper information filing/retrieval methods, and assist with program administrative tasks. Employee will help others in the team with ongoing work as needed.


  • Under general supervision, performs accurate data entry, data cleaning, generate reports and export data
  • Perform data transcription from health records or other sources, as per approved study protocol and authorized access
  • Assist with administrative tasks including filing, chart maintenance, faxing
  • Compliance Ontario’s Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA).
  • Ensuring compliance with the study Protocol and applicable standard operating procedures (SOP’s).
  • Completing study related documentation
  • Operating electronic database software


  • Community College diploma in a health-related discipline or equivalent; or 1 year previous experience with any kind of data entry (preferably in a clinical research setting)
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and/or Microsoft Access required
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong work ethic, critical thinking
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time for data entry
  • Must be able to work on a computer for extended periods of time for data entry
  • Must be versatile, flexible and self-motivated
  • Requires excellent communication skills
  • Must demonstrate satisfactory work performance and attendance record
