Department description

At Radiomics & Machine Learning Lab at Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute, Sinai Health System, we conduct high-throughput research in design and development of artificial intelligence solutions for medical imaging. The data sources are centered around medical imaging modalities such as MRI and CT and are focused on clinical translation. We are affiliated with the Joint Dept. of Medical Imaging which encompasses the imaging Departments of the Toronto General Hospital, Sinai Health System, Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto Western Hospital and Womens College Hospital

Position Overview:

The Postdoctoral Fellow will work in close collaboration with other postdocs and graduate students as well as radiologists in research focused on developing innovative medical image analytics, artificial intelligence, and deep learning solutions for different types of cancer such as prostate, pancreatic, liver and kindey cancer using MRI and CT modalities. She/he will work effectively with the lab members to produce high quality research, algorithms, codes, manuscripts, and documents. The candidate will have the opportunity to publish papers and gain experience in medical applications in machine learning directly applied to real-world medical imaging problems.


  • Algorithm design and development for medical image analysis, machine learning, and statistical modeling solutions:
    • Design and Development of Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning-driven Solutions for Medical Imaging for Cancer Diagnosis and Prognosis.
    • Medical Image Analysis
  • Medical database collection and management using Microsoft Access
  • Perform necessary quality control procedures to ensure accuracy and completeness of the research data
  • Preparing scientific manuscripts and reports.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering or Equivalent
  • Background in medical image analysis
  • Background in machine (deep) learning and statistical analysis
  • Strong scientific programming skills with Python
  • Prior research-based publications in deep learning and/or medical image analysis
  • Excellent technical writing for scientific publications
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work well with a team and to use initiative in achieving goals
