The Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute of Mount Sinai Hospital, a University of Toronto affiliated research centre, is one of the world's leading centres in biomedical research.  With ground-breaking discoveries in research areas such as diabetes, genetic disorders, cancer and women’s and infants’ health, the Institute is committed to excellence in health research and the training of young investigators.  Strong partnerships with the clinical programs of Mount Sinai Hospital ensure that scientific knowledge is used to promote human health.  Your significant contributions will assist in maintaining our momentum in advancing our research.

The Jackson lab is a newly established lab focused on the use of multiplexed imaging and single cell analyses to understand the formation and function of multi-cellular tissue subunits, communities of cells. Using imaging mass cytometry combined with multiple other technologies we track and investigate changing cellular interactions within pre-clinical models of disease and clinical patient samples. We are looking for a creative, curious, and enthusiastic data scientist to help manage and drive forward established and novel data analysis resources within a collaborative team environment.

The Senior Scientist / Data Analyst will be responsible for set up and maintenance of a multiplexed imaging analysis pipeline, as well as its use for the analysis of large datasets, and its continued adaptation for project specific needs. Further, the Scientist will be involved in the interpretation and reporting of these results and the training of others in the use of this pipeline.

  • Set up, maintenance, and standard operating procedures of multiplexed image analysis pipeline
  • Develop and implement novel quantitative methods and analyses
  • Collaborate with other lab members to analyze and interpret multiplexed images and associated single cell data
  • Set up and maintain data backup, databases and data sharing software platforms
  • Training team members and other scientists in established analysis methods
  • Project management – provide oversight of ongoing projects and data sharing initiatives, e.g. facilitating meetings, planning workload and scheduling
  • Liaise with internal and external collaborators and resource providers to ensure stability and continuity of data analysis resources
  • Participate in ongoing training, quality improvement activities and conferences to maintain cutting edge analysis platforms
  • Opportunity to get involved in research activities related to this work including wet lab experimentation, publications, and grant applications

  • Ph.D. (Postdoctoral training a plus)
  • Experience in the image analysis, as well as single cell methods, spatially resolved technologies, and their analysis
  • Familiarity with software platforms for image analysis, sharing, and interpretation
  • Experience in R, Python or other applicable coding languages
  • Academic or industry research experience, including experimental design and analysis as well as paper and grant writing experience
  • Previous experience working in a research setting involving high content or systems biology
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to work efficiently and effectively self-directed and with other staff members in a collaborative manner
