DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

Within the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute, the Collaboratory for Research and Innovation has a focus on health services research and is addressing questions and issues related to the intersection of multimorbidity, social determinants and health system factors.  The Collaboratory is located on the Bridgepoint Active Healthcare campus.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Collaboratory for Research and Innovation is seeking an experienced, creative, energetic individual with a track record of success to serve as a Project Manager to administer a research and innovation project around the opioid crisis. The Project Manager will manage the development of novel educational programs and clinical tools focused on improving primary care for people with opioid use disorder. This will involve coordinating activities of curriculum developers, policy-makers, designers and thought-leaders at local, provincial and national levels. The Project Manager will also manage a parallel stream of health services, health policy and historical research investigating the care of people living with opioid use disorder in primary care. This research stream will have both national and international scope. The Project Manager will work with Project Leads and Principal Investigators in each of these content areas.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Co-ordinate the programs under the supervision of project and scientific staff  
  • Interact with staff at other institutions to ensure successful conduct of the programs
  • Participate in protocol development
  • Prepare and oversee regulatory and ethics submissions and regulations
  • Monitor timelines and adherence to approved goals of program components
  • Prepare budgets and maintain financial records
  • Prepare quarterly and annual program and financial reports
  • Participate in program evaluation
  • Liaise with educators, scientists, policy-makers, etc.
  • Participate in data collection, including consenting participants
  • Organize meetings, maintain minutes
  • Other activities at the discretion of the Project Leads

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Master’s Degree in Health Care, Business Administration, Health Policy / Health Services required;
  • 5 years project management and/or research experience
  • Excellent communication skills. Written work should demonstrate critical thinking, clear analysis and resulting recommendations
  • Experience with the preparation and oversight of regulatory and ethics submissions and regulations
  • Experienced in developing operating budgets with the ability to manage projects to approved budgets
  • Project management skills, particularly project coordination, program planning, proposal and report development
  • Project Management Professional designation an asset
  • Well-organized with the ability to handle several projects simultaneously, prioritize competing workload demands and manage deadlines
