ORGANIZATION OR DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

The Infection Diseases Epidemiology Research Unit (IDERU) is a division of the Department of Microbiology and Infection Control. Our research is focused on new and emerging diseases, antimicrobial resistance, influenza and other vaccine preventable diseases.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

As a member of the Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology Research Unit (IDERU), the successful applicant will coordinate the activities of a series of linked studies of COVID-19 in Canada.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates participant recruitment across a variety of study sites and populations using primarily electronic methods
  • Coordinates and supervises flow of study documents, data and samples from the various components of the studies to ensure that all aspects of the study are completed on target, and data quality is maintained
  • Ensures that REB approvals are maintained at all sites. Coordinates the preparation and submission of REB renewal forms, amendments, and close-out forms
  • Assists with the design and revision of case report forms, consents and other study related documents
  • In collaboration with PI and study team, sets, maintains, and provides timely feedback and potential problems regarding goals and target dates to meet project timelines
  • Works with data analyst and study team to ensure accuracy and completeness of data
  • Liaises with collaborating laboratories, investigators and other study and laboratory staff
  • Pays strict attention to details and maintains a high level of organization for all aspects of the studies
  • Performs other related duties as required to meet study goals and timelines
  • Follows privacy standards and research ethics board policies and requirements
  • Ability to work flexible hours, if required

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training and experience
  • Project management experience required, particularly project coordination
  • Demonstrated excellence in participant recruitment and retention required
  • Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work independently
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Collaborative within a multi-disciplinary team setting
  • Highly proficient with computer software (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Must complete TCPS2 and GCP training
  • Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance record
  • Ability to speak French is an asset
