DEPARTMENT/LAB DESCRIPTION:
The Croitoru lab is interested in understanding the mechanisms that regulate the mucosal inflammation as it relates to the pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel diseases. The lab is comprised of a multi-disciplinary team with both basic research and clinical translational research arms. The lab brings together enthusiastic scientists with diverse backgrounds, skills, and interests, providing a wide range of perspectives to each research project.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Croitoru Lab is seeking an experienced and organized individual for the purpose of being a Project Manager within Dr. Croitoru’s clinical translational group at the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute of Mount Sinai Hospital. The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing several ongoing clinical studies which may include pharma-sponsored, cooperative group sponsored, and investigator-initiated studies. The project manager will collaborate with physician leads, and also manage a team of research assistants to coordinate both the creation, recruitment and the ongoing maintenance of clinical studies.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Co-ordinate clinical studies under the supervision principal investigator 
  • Supervise a small number of Research Assistant, students and/or volunteers
  • Interact with staff at other institutions to ensure successful conduct of projects
  • Participate in protocol, ICF, and CRF development
  • Prepare and oversee regulatory and ethics submissions and regulations
  •  Monitor timelines/project milestones and adherence to approved goals of program components
  •  Forecasts, plans, and prepares study operating budgets and maintain financial records
  •  Prepare regular program and financial reports for management, regulatory agencies, or other stakeholders
  •  Participate in program evaluation
  •  Liaise with educators, scientists, policy-makers, etc.
  •  Monitor data collection, including consenting participants for all active research studies
  • Maintenance of study agreements, sub-agreements, and service agreements
  • Organize meetings, maintain minutes
  • Interprets, implements, and ensures compliance with policies, operating plans, processes, and funding agreements
  • Prepare REB applications, amendments or renewals
  • Other activities at the discretion of the Principal Investigator
  • Work both remotely and on-site when required to effectively deliver the required duties and responsibilities

 

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate degree in health or science related discipline
  • 3 – 5 years of project management and/or research experience
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience with the preparation and oversight of regulatory and ethics submissions and regulations
  • Experienced in developing operating budgets with the ability to manage projects to approved budgets
  • Project management skills, particularly project coordination, program planning, proposal and report development
  • Project Management Professional designation an asset
  • Detail-oriented, accurate, dependable and flexible self-starter with the ability to handle a complexity of tasks simultaneously
  • Understanding of Inflammatory Bowel Disease and related medical terminology
  • Experience operating and working within online database software and Microsoft Access an asset
