ORGANIZATION OR DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Infection Diseases Epidemiology Research Unit (IDERU) is a division of the Lunenfeld
Research Institute. As a member of the Infectious Disease Epidemiology Research Unit (IDERU), the successful applicant will assist the principal investigator and other staff in the coordination of activities of a series of linked studies of COVID-19 in Canada.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare written correspondence, reports, posters, presentations, and other documents using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
  • Assist with preparation of ethics review board submissions including design and revision of forms
  • Monitor and analyze research accounts as assigned (e.g. monitor and analyze accounts, identify variances, prepare expense reports, etc)
  • Coordinate, schedule and organize regular and ad hoc meetings and appointments, including groups with membership from outside the hospital. Prepare and distribute agendas and required materials. Take minutes as directed
  • Develop forms for data collection and enter data as required
  • Organize and maintain paper and electronic filing systems for research team
  • Monitor and maintain deadlines and schedules
  • Perform other general office related duties (travel arrangements, photocopying, faxing, arranging couriers, ordering and maintaining office supplies and equipment, etc)
  • Coordinate computer and telephone access (and ensure administrative registration), provision of keys and security cards, maintain appropriate correspondence with human resources, and ensure payroll arrangements for new employees and student placements within the research office
  • Pay strict attention to details and maintains a high level of organization for all aspects of the studies
  • Follow privacy standards and research ethics board policies and requirements
  • Other duties as directed by the Principal Investigator or their designate

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience (2+ years experience). Education/experience in or familiarity with a research environment and knowledge of grant submissions are an asset.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of individuals in a co-operative manner
  • Superior organizational skills, time management, flexibility to adjust to priorities, professionalism, dependability and ability to multi-task
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions and to exercise good judgment
  • Proven discretion and initiative in dealing with confidential information and/or in responding to sensitive inquiries
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint including creativity with set-ups and formats
  • Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history
  • Ability to speak French is an asset
