Position Overview:

We welcome applications for a Home Visit Research Assistant to join the Scaling Up Maternal Mental healthcare by Increasing access to Treatment (SUMMIT) Trial, led by Dr. Daisy Singla (Clinician Scientist at LTRI). The Home Visit Research Assistant I plays an integral role in the investigation of evidenced-based treatments for postpartum depression and other comorbidities in this large, multi-site trial. In this role, the successful candidate will receive training in and be responsible for conducting child development outcome assessments for study participants in their homes.

 

Responsibilities of the Research Assistant include but are not limited to:

  • Data collection visits with study participants’ children approximately 6-24 months post-birth
    • Please note that the majority of visits occur in study participants’ homes
  • Administration and scheduling of data collection home visits
  • Consistent communication with participants
  • Training and implementation in several child outcome tools including the Bayley IV
  • Monitor and maintain deadlines and schedules
  • Liaising with other Home Visit RAs across sites as needed
  • Assist in the preparation of research reports 
  • Prepare written correspondence, reports and presentations using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
  • Perform other general office related duties as required (e.g., photocopying, organizing and maintaining filing system)

 

Requirements:

  • Successful completion of a University degree, preferably psychology or in a relevant field
  • Minimum 1 year of experience
  • Extensive experience working with babies and young children
  • Previous experience conducting child assessments is considered an asset
  • Possess a compassionate and flexible nature, and a client-centred approach to research
  • A valid Driver’s License and access to a vehicle
  • Excellent communication, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Requires good judgement, problem solving and assessment abilities
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Superior organizational and time management skills with a flexibility to adjust to priorities
  • Demonstrated professionalism and ability to work with a variety of individuals in a co-operative manner both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work accurately and effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history

 

In accordance with Institute’s policy and legislated health and safety requirements, employment is conditional upon the verification of credentials, completion of a health review, and demonstrating proof of immunity and vaccination status of vaccine-preventable diseases. All employees and affiliates will follow safe work practices and comply with health and safety policies, procedures, and training. Successful candidates will be required to provide two (2) written reference letters from their former employer(s)/supervisor(s).

A recent Provincial Directive mandates all employees of public hospitals in Ontario to be either fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or be regularly tested. All new employees joining Sinai Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and be on track toward full vaccination within six (6) weeks; participating in mandatory twice weekly Rapid Antigen Testing Program until fully vaccinated. There are very limited circumstances in which approval will be given for a medical exemption from receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.
