Job summary:

The Uro-Oncology Research Program is seeking an experienced, creative, energetic individual with a track record of success to serve as a project manager to oversee all aspects of the research program together with the principle investigator and healthcare team.

 

Job responsibilities:

The project manager will work closely with the principal investigator and the health care team (at Mount Sinai Hospital and University Health Network) to:

  • Implement and maintain all research trials and projects/studies (all aspects);
  • Recruit study participants (e.g. identify and screen potential participants, obtain informed consent);
  • Conduct study visits, procure and prepare specimens for shipping and collect and maintain data/source documentation;
  • Complete data entry, generate reports, and execute administrative aspects of study (e.g. communication with the research ethics board, other investigators/collaborators, sponsors, and with Health Canada, as applicable);
  • Review study-related literature, and contribute to manuscript and presentation preparation and submission as required;
  • Apply for additional grant funding, as applicable;
  • Direct supervision of assigned research staff, volunteers, and vendors;
  • Interpret, implement, and ensures compliance with policies, operating plans, and processes;
  • Manage and participate in protocol development;
  • Supervise the implementation of the protocol;
  • Prepare and oversee regulatory submissions;
  • Interact with staff at other institutions to ensure successful conduct of the programs;
  • Monitor timelines and adherence to approved goals of program components;
  • Prepare budgets and maintain financial records;
  • Participate in program evaluation;
  • Liaise with educators, scientists, collaborators, other investigators etc.;
  • Perform some administrative tasks (such as coordinating/organizing or planning meetings, minutes taking, providing direct and/or functional supervision for assigned personnel, completing finance forms for reimburesments);
  • Other activities at the discretion of the project leads/principle investigator;
  • Must be flexible with respect to time.

 

Education & experience requirements:

  • A Master’s degree in health related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2-3 years project management and/or research experience.
  • Knowledge of research regulations and guidelines, including the ICH/GSP guidelines, tri-council policy, and Health Canada etc.
  • Excellent communication skills. Written work should demonstrate critical thinking, clear analysis and resulting recommendations.
  • Experience with the preparation and oversight of regulatory submissions.
  • Experienced in developing operating budgets with the ability to manage projects to approved budgets.
  • Project management skills, particularly project coordination, program planning, proposal and report development.
  • Excellent decision-making and problem solving skills.
  • Well-organized with the ability to handle several projects simultaneously, prioritize competing workload demands and manage deadlines.
  • Proficiency with MS Office software (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint) is required.

 

In accordance with Institute’s policy and legislated health and safety requirements, employment is conditional upon the verification of credentials, completion of a health review, and demonstrating proof of immunity and vaccination status of vaccine-preventable diseases. All employees and affiliates will follow safe work practices and comply with health and safety policies, procedures, and training. A recent Provincial Directive mandates all employees of public hospitals in Ontario to be either fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or be regularly tested. All new employees joining Sinai Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and be on track toward full vaccination within six (6) weeks; participating in mandatory twice weekly Rapid Antigen Testing Program until fully vaccinated. There are very limited circumstances in which approval will be given for a medical exemption from receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.
